Origin of our Greek Cookies' dates back to ancient Greece. It is well known as the Cretan Lent Rusk, aka Paximadia.

Paximadia is very popular throughout Greece as a semi-sweet cookie, commonly flavored with anise, orange or almond and topped with sesame. It is excellent with coffee, tea or steamed milk.            

The Cretan Lent Rusk is perfect during Lent Season.  In different regions of Greece there are other variations of Paximadia, which led to the creation of my own versions of these specialty Greek Cookies we call Pavlos Cookies. 

This plate of Cretan Rusk - Greek Style Cookies has an extraordinary combination of flavors of pure vanilla, squeezed orange juice & zest, mild anise, dry roasted almonds, dried cranberries and cherries with roasted sesame.
